Career

For the past 15 years I have been a teacher of geography in a range of schools. During the Covid-19 first lockdown I was made redundant as the school where I was working closed with no notice. A team of us from the school decided to set up a specialist school for children with dyslexia and co-occuring difficulties, which we opened in January 2021. Whilst we were setting the school up I also undertook a maths conversion course to teach up to GCSE maths using subject specific pedagogy, learnt how to run the HR department, school management system and forest school training.
Travel
I have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to travel to a wide range of different locations around the world. My favourites are Madagascar for the spectacular landscape and limas as well as The Azores where the people are so welcoming and keen to share their culture of the remote Atlantic Islands.

Hobbies and Interests

I love to paddle board and hike. Any excuse to be outside enjoying the countryside when the weather is favourable and I'm in the correct kit.
When at home I enjoy cooking and making cards with the help of my cats.
